Duration: ½ Day -
Subject: We look at different stages through a rivers life cycle. Starting at the source, we can see the factors that come together to form the river. Moving downstream it is possible to observe the high energy setting of a young river with steep gradients and waterfalls being common. Further down stream we look at how a mature river meanders its way through a large flood plane before reaching the mouth.

Water Resources
Duration: 1 Day -
Subject: We look at how the water resources of the south west are managed. Visiting some of the rivers and dams that supply the county. It is also possible to run an excersise looking at the environmental consequences of creating a new dam.
If time allows, we will also look at how waste water is treated in the south west, with the completion of the 'Clean Sweep' project.

Coastal Processes
Duration: 1 Day -
Subject: Cornwall has the longest coastline of any county in the UK. It is therefore one of the best places to study coastal processes. Visit locations where you can explore sea caves, a sea stack and a tombolo at the same beach. At other locations it is possible to observe the effects of cliff erosion, assessing rates of erostion from evidence found on the beach and looking at why the erosion is happening. At other locations, we will look at the wave cut platform and how it is formed and the importance it plays in coastal ecology.

Highland Topograhy
Duration: 1 Day
Subject: Cornwall is a county of contrasts, it doesn't just have a great coastline but also has peaks in excess of 300m. We'll look at the topography of the highland areas and some of the landforms that result. This is normally combined with a look at the geomorphology of the area, and can easily be combined with either the 'rivers' module or an 'ecology' module.

Mapping & Map Skills
Duration: 1 Day -
Subject: This module is split into two sections. The first is an introduction to maps and map reading. Students will be given the oppertunity to partake in practical excesisies in the field.
The second part of the module involves students producing a map of a small area, using a range of techniques.
